Does Walmart Price Match in 2026, and Where Are the Clearance Deals?
Walmart price matches only its own prices: a Walmart US store will match the identical in-stock item advertised on Walmart.com, but Walmart.com does not price match and no Walmart channel matches competitors or clearance and Rollback prices. Here is where the clearance deals are and how to pay less at Walmart in 2026.
Walmart price matches its own prices, not other stores'. According to Walmart's Price Match Policy (updated June 8, 2023), a Walmart US store will match the price of the identical item advertised on Walmart.com if it is in stock online when you ask at checkout. Walmart.com does not price match, and no Walmart channel matches competitors, clearance or Rollback prices. For US shoppers in 2026, the lowest Walmart total usually comes from the Deals and clearance sections, the store-versus-website check, and going through ShopBack before you check out.
New to ShopBack? ShopBack US is a free shopping rewards platform: you go through ShopBack before you buy at stores like Walmart, and part of what you spend comes back to you as cash. It takes a couple of minutes to sign up, and the live rate is shown on each store's ShopBack page.
Building a Walmart cart? Go through ShopBack before you check out at Walmart so you pay less on the same order.

Does Walmart price match in 2026?
Walmart's price match in 2026 works in one direction: from the Walmart.com price to the Walmart store till. Walmart says that "for items purchased in a Walmart U.S. store, we will match the price of the identical item advertised on Walmart.com," and the policy page still carries the June 8, 2023 update date.
To get the match in a store:
- Find the item on Walmart.com on your phone while you shop. The identical item (same size, model, quantity, brand and color) must be in stock and available to buy on Walmart.com at that moment.
- Tell the associate at checkout. Walmart says you must inform the associate of the price at the time of checkout, not afterwards.
- Allow a little time. Some price matches need supervisor approval, which Walmart says could make the transaction take longer.
- Accept the manager's call. Under the policy, the Store Manager on duty has the final decision on any price match.
The quickest habit is simple: scan the shelf price, check the same item in the Walmart app, and if the website is lower, ask for the match before you pay.
Does Walmart price match Amazon, Target or other stores?
No. Walmart's policy says it does not match "competitor's online or in-store prices." That rules out matching Amazon, Target, Best Buy or any other retailer, in a Walmart store or on Walmart.com. Walmart also does not match prices from other Walmart stores or Neighborhood Markets, so the price at a Walmart across town will not be honored at yours.
If a competitor is cheaper, the practical move is to buy there instead. Many of the same products sit at Target, Best Buy and Kohl's, so on a bigger purchase it is worth checking one or two of them.
What Walmart won't price match
Walmart excludes special-event prices, third-party sellers and most offer types that are not a single fixed price. According to the policy, Walmart does not match:
- Special events on Walmart.com, including clearance, Rollback, Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals and other limited-time promotions.
- Walmart Marketplace or third-party sellers on Walmart.com.
- Bundle offers, instant rebates and mail-in offers.
- Offers that include financing and ads that need a purchase to receive a gift card.
- Percentage-off or Buy One Get One Free ads that do not state a specific price.
- Prices from other Walmart or Neighborhood Market stores.
On Walmart.com orders, Walmart adds that it does not match prices for items you already bought that have since dropped. If that happens and the item is still in its return window, some shoppers return and rebuy; check the item's return rules first.
Where are the Walmart clearance deals?
Walmart's clearance deals sit in two places: the Deals menu on Walmart.com and the clearance shelf tags in each store. Because clearance and Rollback prices are excluded from price matching, the only way to get them is to find them directly.
Online. On Walmart.com, markdowns are grouped under the "Deals" menu in the main navigation, with category hubs for fashion, tech, home, toys, seasonal decor and more. Items are labelled as clearance or Rollback on the listing. Clearance stock online tends to sell through, so the same item may not be there next week.
In stores. Clearance is store by store. Stock and markdown levels differ between locations, and the policy confirms that one store's price is not honored at another. The Walmart app's store mode lets you check what your local store has before you drive over.
Around big sales. Walmart+ members get early access to major Walmart sales such as Black Friday deals, according to the Walmart+ benefits listed on Wikipedia's Walmart+ entry. Seasonal aisles (Halloween, holiday and back-to-school) are often where store clearance shows up once the season ends.
Check the item details. Many Walmart.com listings come from Marketplace sellers, which are excluded from price matching and can have different return windows. The listing shows who sells and ships the item.
Walmart official deals: the cheapest ways to save at Walmart
The official ways to pay less at Walmart are Rollback and clearance pricing, the store-to-website price match, Walmart+ and Walmart Cash. Walmart's own position, from its price match page, is that it strives "to offer the best possible price on Walmart.com every day, on all items," which is why it does not price match online.
| Official Walmart option | What it does | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Store price match | Store matches the identical in-stock Walmart.com price | Walmart Price Match Policy |
| Rollback and clearance | Temporary and end-of-line markdowns; not matched | Walmart Price Match Policy |
| Walmart+ ($98 a year or $12.95 a month) | Free shipping with no order minimum on items shipped from Walmart.com, early sale access, Walmart Cash | Walmart+ entry on Wikipedia |
| Walmart+ Assist ($49 a year or $6.47 a month) | Same membership at half price for eligible students and recipients of SNAP, WIC, Medicaid and other qualifying aid | Walmart+ entry on Wikipedia |
| Returns | Most items returnable within 90 days | Walmart returns page |
Walmart+ rewards: is the official membership the cheapest option?
Walmart+ costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month plus tax, and it pays off only if you order often. According to the Walmart+ entry on Wikipedia, members get free shipping with no order minimum on items shipped from Walmart.com, free same-day delivery from local stores on qualifying orders of $35 or more, free returns from home on eligible items, 10 cents off per gallon at Walmart, ExxonMobil and Murphy USA fuel stations, early access to big sales, and Walmart Cash on eligible purchases. Members can also choose a Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium subscription at no added charge. The same entry lists a 30-day free trial and says the price has not changed since the service launched on September 15, 2020, though Walmart can change it at any time.
A simple test: the annual plan works out to about $8.17 a month, so if you would otherwise pay delivery fees on two or three orders a month, the membership can cover itself. If you shop Walmart once a month or less, you may come out ahead without it.
Walmart credit card rewards in 2026
Walmart's co-branded card is the OnePay CashRewards card, which earns Walmart Cash on Walmart purchases; the card issuer sets the rate and terms. A general rewards card instead earns that card's own points or cash back. Walmart Cash can be redeemed on future Walmart purchases, and Walmart's returns page says refunds to Walmart Cash usually land within about 3 hours.
Using a card with ShopBack. Usually, the card you pay with and going through ShopBack are separate steps, so paying with a rewards card does not normally stop a ShopBack order from tracking. Payment rules can differ, so check the merchant's terms on the Walmart ShopBack page before you check out.
Walmart cashback through a cashback site
Walmart is on ShopBack US, so you can get cash back on eligible Walmart orders by going through ShopBack before you check out. The same goes for travel merchants like Booking.com, Trip.com, Agoda and Expedia: going through ShopBack is an essential step before you book or check out, so you pay less on the same booking or order. Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.
Your effective price is what you pay minus the cash ShopBack returns. ShopBack pays a fixed cash amount on eligible Walmart orders, so your effective price is what you pay at checkout minus that amount. As an illustration only, if a $200 Walmart order earned a fixed $5, the effective price would be $195. Amounts and eligible orders change, so check the live amount and terms on the Walmart page on ShopBack US on the day you shop.
How to do it:
- Sign in to ShopBack US and open the Walmart page.
- Tap through to walmart.com (or use the ShopBack app).
- Add your items, including any clearance or Rollback finds, and check out in the same session.
- Keep the order until the return window passes, since returned items are not eligible.
Walmart returns: how long you have
Walmart says that in most cases you have 90 days to return items purchased from Walmart. Its returns page lists shorter windows for some categories, including 2 days for major appliances, 14 days for most wireless phones, and 30 days for consumer electronics, PC components, vacuums and most Marketplace sellers. Some items are non-returnable. Refunds are generally credited immediately for cash, within 7 days to a credit card and within about 3 hours to a Walmart gift card or Walmart Cash, according to the same page.
Other big-box stores to compare
Walmart sits in the same category as Target, Best Buy and Kohl's, so on bigger purchases it is worth checking the total at one or two of them; whichever you pick, open its ShopBack page first.
Frequently asked questions
Does Walmart price match?
Walmart price matches its own website only. According to Walmart's Price Match Policy (updated June 8, 2023), a Walmart US store will match the price of the identical item advertised on Walmart.com, as long as it is in stock and available to buy on Walmart.com when you ask. You need to tell the associate at checkout, and some matches need a supervisor's approval. Walmart.com itself does not price match.
Does Walmart price match Amazon or other stores in 2026?
No. Walmart's Price Match Policy says it does not match competitors' online or in-store prices, so an Amazon, Target or Best Buy price will not be matched in a Walmart store or on Walmart.com. It also does not match prices from other Walmart or Neighborhood Market stores.
Does Walmart.com adjust the price if it drops after I buy?
Usually not. Walmart's policy says Walmart.com does not offer price matching for items previously purchased on Walmart.com that have since decreased in price. If a price drops while you are still inside the return window, some shoppers return and rebuy, but that depends on the item's return rules.
Will Walmart price match clearance or Rollback prices?
No. Walmart's policy excludes Walmart.com prices on special events, naming clearance, Rollback, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and other limited-time promotions. Third-party Marketplace seller prices, bundles, instant rebates, mail-in offers and BOGO ads without a set price are also excluded.
Where can I find Walmart clearance deals?
Online, Walmart groups its markdowns under the Deals menu on Walmart.com, where clearance and Rollback items are labelled. In stores, clearance is marked on shelf tags and stock differs from store to store, so the Walmart app's store mode is the easiest way to check what your local store has. Walmart+ members also get early access to big sale events such as Black Friday deals.
How much does Walmart+ cost?
Walmart+ costs $98 per year or $12.95 per month plus tax, and Walmart+ Assist costs $49 per year or $6.47 per month for eligible students and recipients of SNAP, WIC, Medicaid and other qualifying aid. There is a 30-day free trial. Benefits include free shipping with no order minimum on items shipped from Walmart.com and free delivery from local stores on qualifying orders of $35 or more.
What is the cheapest way to shop at Walmart?
Compare the store price with the Walmart.com price and ask for a match at checkout if the website is lower, check the clearance and Rollback sections, use Walmart+ only if you order often enough to cover $98 a year, and go through ShopBack before you check out at Walmart so part of what you spend comes back as cash. Your effective price is what you pay minus the cash ShopBack returns.
Can I use a credit card and ShopBack on the same Walmart order?
Usually yes. The card you pay with and going through ShopBack are normally separate steps, so a rewards card does not usually stop a ShopBack order from tracking. Payment rules can differ by store, so check the merchant's terms on the Walmart ShopBack page before you check out.
Can I get cashback at Walmart?
Yes, through ShopBack US. Go through ShopBack before you check out at Walmart: open the Walmart page on ShopBack, tap through to walmart.com and place the order in the same session. ShopBack pays a fixed cash amount on eligible Walmart orders, so your effective price is what you pay at checkout minus that amount; the live amount is on Walmart's ShopBack page.
How long do I have to return something to Walmart?
In most cases 90 days, according to Walmart's returns page. Shorter windows apply to some categories, for example 30 days for consumer electronics and 14 days for most wireless phones, and some items are final sale. Refunds to a credit card are generally credited within 7 days.
