United Polaris vs Delta One vs American Flagship, US to Europe 2026

Updated: September 2026.

Business class from the US to Europe in 2026 is a better product than at any point in the last decade. All three legacy US carriers now fly lie-flat suites with sliding doors on most core transatlantic markets, and the seat itself is close enough between them that the tiebreaker moves to hub, lounge, and routing. This guide walks through United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 (with the new Polaris Studio front rows), Delta One Suites on the A350-900, and American's Flagship Suite on the Project Olympus 777-300ER, so you can pick the right cabin for your specific US departure city and European destination.

The verdict

For US to Europe business class in 2026, none of the three US carriers is a bad answer; the choice is about your departure hub and what you value on the ground.

United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 wins on hard product. The new Polaris seat and the Polaris Studio front-row suites feature sliding privacy doors, and Polaris Studio adds a 27-inch 4K OLED IFE screen and about 25 percent more space than the standard new Polaris (SimpleFlying).

United's refreshed 222-seat 787-9 configuration includes 64 Polaris business suites in a mixed layout with 35 Premium Plus and standard economy seats, and scheduled service on the new product began on San Francisco to London Heathrow on April 30, 2026. United also runs the largest business class lounge network of the three: six Polaris Lounges across Newark, Chicago O'Hare, Houston Intercontinental, LAX, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles, plus Hong Kong. Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking a United Polaris trip to Europe so the ground side of the itinerary earns cashback alongside the mileage accrual on the ticket.

Delta One Suites on the A350-900 wins on hub coverage for New York, Boston, and LAX flyers. The current Delta One Suite has an enclosing door, a well-designed 1-2-1 layout, and pairs with the Delta One Lounge product at JFK, LAX, and Boston, which is widely rated the strongest single lounge for a transatlantic departure among the three US carriers.

Delta prices in coordination with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic through the transatlantic joint venture, which means connecting itineraries via Paris CDG or Amsterdam Schiphol often surface at similar prices to a nonstop pair, expanding the effective destination map. Book flights via ShopBack partners (major online travel agencies list flight-inclusive packages that qualify for cashback on eligible bookings) to layer cashback on the hotel and package side of a Delta One transatlantic trip.

American Flagship Suite on the Project Olympus 777-300ER wins for DFW, Miami, and JFK flyers on lounge and route network. The retrofitted 777-300ER carries 70 Flagship Suites with sliding privacy doors (up from 52 older business seats without doors) and removes the old First Class cabin entirely; the front-row Flagship Suite Preferred adds memory foam lumbar pillows and a specialised mattress pad (OneMileAtATime).

The first retrofitted 777-300ER flew home to Dallas on August 13, 2026, and American plans to retrofit all 20 aircraft of the type (MiGFlug). American Flagship Lounges are open at JFK, LAX, DFW, Chicago O'Hare, and Miami; if you fly from DFW or MIA to Europe, this lounge network is unmatched by the other two carriers.

Bottom line: pick United from EWR, ORD, IAD, IAH, or SFO; pick Delta from JFK, BOS, ATL, or LAX; pick American from DFW, MIA, or JFK. If your hub supports two of the three, the tiebreaker is the specific European destination (which airline flies nonstop) and, when equal, the seat product on that particular airframe.

Why the seat is finally not the deciding factor

For years, US business class to Europe was defined by which airline had the better hard product. British Airways still flew rearward-facing yin-yang seats without doors; American ran an old Concept D layout without doors; United's original Polaris was strong but inconsistent across the fleet.

That gap has closed in 2026. All three US carriers now fly lie-flat 1-2-1 suites with sliding doors on most core transatlantic markets, and the differences at the seat level are marginal (screen size, storage layout, mattress pad thickness). The real spread is on three ground-level variables: the lounge you use before departure, the airline's route network out of your specific US hub, and how the trip prices when you compare cash, points, and joint-venture partner routing.

That is why this guide leads with hub, then lounge, then seat. The seat matters. It matters much less than it did in 2020.

The one caveat: not every aircraft in each fleet has been reconfigured to the new product yet. United is still flying the older Polaris seat (also with doors, but a smaller IFE and older cabin design) on some 787-9 aircraft while the fleet transitions. American is midway through Project Olympus, so the first few retrofitted 777-300ERs are the only ones with Flagship Suites while the older aircraft still fly the previous business cabin.

Delta's A350-900 fleet already carries the current Delta One Suite (with door); the next-generation VantageNOVA seat lands on the A350-1000 delivery starting in 2027 (SimpleFlying). Verify aircraft assignment at booking, and check for schedule changes 24 to 48 hours before departure, because a swap from the retrofitted aircraft to an older subfleet can materially change the on-board product.

United Polaris and Polaris Studio: the hard product leader in 2026

If you value the seat itself above all else, United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 is the pick for US to Europe in 2026.

The new hard product. United's refreshed 787-9 features new Polaris suites with sliding privacy doors, larger IFE screens than the previous Polaris generation, and improved storage. The first two rows are the Polaris Studio, which is roughly 25 percent larger than the standard new Polaris suites and includes a 27-inch 4K OLED IFE screen (SimpleFlying). Both seat types are full lie-flat 1-2-1 with direct aisle access. United's refreshed 787-9 configuration is a 222-seat layout: 64 Polaris business suites (including the first two rows of Polaris Studio), 35 Premium Plus, 39 Economy Plus, and 84 standard economy seats.

The 2026 rollout. Scheduled service on the refreshed 787-9 started with San Francisco to London Heathrow on April 30, 2026, and premium-heavy transatlantic routes have taken priority given the concentration of business demand and the competitive intensity from British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and joint venture partners. United has been rolling the aircraft into other core European markets (Newark to Heathrow, Newark to Frankfurt, Chicago to Munich, Chicago to London) as more of the refreshed 787-9 fleet enters service through 2026 and into 2027.

The lounge network. United operates six Polaris Lounges in the US: Newark, Chicago O'Hare, Houston Intercontinental, LAX, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles (OneMileAtATime). Newark and Chicago are the two largest and are widely rated the strongest US Polaris Lounges. There is no Polaris Lounge at JFK or Boston, which matters if you live in the Northeast and want to depart on a nonstop; from JFK, United does not fly to Europe, and from Boston, United does not fly to Europe either. The Polaris Lounge network is a Newark-centric transatlantic story, plus a strong Chicago departure story.

Where United Polaris wins. Anyone flying out of Newark, Chicago O'Hare, Washington Dulles, Houston Intercontinental, or SFO. The refreshed 787-9 hard product, the Polaris Studio front-row option, and the lounge network all line up for these hubs. United also has one of the deepest European nonstop networks among the three US carriers, including harder-to-reach markets like Zurich, Nice, Berlin, and Naples out of Newark.

Where United Polaris is a weaker pick. Anyone in JFK or Boston who wants to depart nonstop on a US carrier (Delta is stronger), anyone based in Dallas or Miami (American Flagship is stronger), and anyone booking a specific route where United still flies the older Polaris subfleet without the new suite and lounge combination. Verify aircraft type at booking.

How ShopBack fits. For the ground side of a United Polaris trip, compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking the London, Paris, or Frankfurt hotel component. Start at shopback.com to see which travel and hotel partners are currently live for the US market. Cashback via ShopBack posts to your ShopBack account and is separate from the MileagePlus miles earned on the paid or upgraded United ticket.

Delta One Suites: the JFK, Boston, and LAX transatlantic pick

Delta One Suites on the A350-900 wins for Northeast and West Coast flyers who value the on-ground experience.

The current hard product. Delta One Suites on the A350-900 was one of the first US suite products with an enclosing door and remains a strong seat in 2026, with a 1-2-1 layout, direct aisle access, and a well-executed cabin design. The A350-900 is Delta's workhorse for premium transatlantic markets from JFK, Boston, ATL, and LAX. Verify the aircraft at booking, because Delta also flies the 767-400ER and A330 on some transatlantic routes with a different Delta One product (still lie-flat, but not the Suite with the door).

The next-generation seat. Delta unveiled the next-generation Delta One Suite for the A350-1000, built on the Thompson Aero VantageNOVA seat with an 83-inch lie-flat bed, roughly three inches longer than the current A350-900 suite (OneMileAtATime). The A350-1000 delivery slips into 2027, so travellers booking in 2026 should not plan around the new seat yet. When it arrives, the 314-seat A350-1000 layout includes 53 business class suites, 48 premium economy, 51 extra legroom economy, and 162 regular economy.

The lounge network. Delta One Lounge is open at JFK, LAX, and Boston. It is widely rated the strongest single premium lounge product among the three US carriers, with private dining rooms, spa-style bathrooms, and a level of service that reads more like a hotel club floor than a traditional airline lounge. If you depart from JFK, LAX, or Boston to Europe, the Delta One Lounge alone can be worth choosing Delta over the two rivals.

The route network. Delta's transatlantic strength is the joint venture with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, which lets travellers book Delta One out of JFK, ATL, BOS, or LAX and connect via Paris CDG or Amsterdam Schiphol into deep European coverage that Delta itself does not fly nonstop. Round-trip Delta One suites on transatlantic routes typically range from $4,800 on low-demand days to well over $15,000 during peak summer, depending on the specific market (SimpleFlying); shoulder seasons and midweek departures compress the range considerably.

Where Delta One Suites wins. Anyone based in JFK, Boston, LAX, or Atlanta. Anyone who values the on-ground lounge experience above the seat itself. Anyone booking a connecting itinerary into a smaller European city (Nice, Florence, Prague, Vienna) via CDG or AMS.

Where Delta One Suites is a weaker pick. Travellers based in Newark, DFW, or Miami whose nonstop options are stronger on United or American respectively. Travellers who need to fly the A350-1000 next-generation seat before it enters service in 2027.

How ShopBack fits. Book flights via ShopBack partners (major online travel agencies list flight-inclusive packages that qualify for cashback on eligible bookings) for the hotel component of a Delta One trip, and compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking Paris, Amsterdam, or London. Cashback via ShopBack posts to your ShopBack account separately from SkyMiles earned on the paid ticket.

American Flagship Suite: the Project Olympus revival

American Flagship Suite on the retrofitted 777-300ER is the biggest step change of the three products in 2026.

The Project Olympus retrofit. American's Project Olympus is the retrofit programme for the airline's 20 Boeing 777-300ERs, and it brings the new Flagship Suite: a business class seat enclosed by a sliding privacy door (OneMileAtATime). The new layout carries 70 Flagship Suites (up from 52 older business seats without doors), an expanded premium economy cabin, and 216 economy seats.

Notably, American has eliminated First Class entirely on the 777-300ER; the airline now positions the Flagship Suite as its top international product, with a front-row Flagship Suite Preferred tier that adds memory foam lumbar pillows and a specialised mattress pad. The first retrofitted 777-300ER returned to Dallas on August 13, 2026 (MiGFlug).

The rollout pace. Because Project Olympus is retrofit-based, only a small subset of American's 777-300ER fleet has the new Flagship Suite at any given point in 2026, with the balance still flying the older business class. Aircraft assignments can change during irregular operations, so if the Flagship Suite is a load-bearing part of the booking decision, verify aircraft type at booking, again 48 hours before departure, and be prepared for a possible swap. The retrofit will continue through 2027 as the remaining 777-300ERs cycle through the programme.

The lounge network. American Flagship Lounges are open at JFK, LAX, DFW, Chicago O'Hare, and Miami. The DFW and Miami Flagship Lounges are especially strong on a per-flight basis because DFW and MIA concentrate transatlantic and transamerican business class departures without the fragmented competition of a New York or LA metro. If your hub is DFW or MIA, the Flagship Lounge is a decisive factor.

The route network. American's core transatlantic strength runs out of Dallas, Miami, JFK, Chicago, and Philadelphia into London (Heathrow), Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, and secondary European cities via the joint venture with British Airways and Iberia. The 777-300ER is deployed on the premium-heavy trunk routes, especially DFW to Heathrow and JFK to Heathrow, though Project Olympus aircraft assignments in year one will bias toward the DFW hub as retrofits complete.

Where American Flagship Suite wins. Travellers based in DFW, Miami, or Philadelphia. Travellers whose destination is Madrid, Barcelona, or another Iberia-served city where the oneworld joint venture routing is strongest. Travellers who value the Flagship Lounge experience, especially at DFW and Miami.

Where American Flagship Suite is a weaker pick. Anyone who cannot book onto a confirmed retrofitted 777-300ER (aircraft assignment risk remains through 2027). Anyone based in Newark or Washington (United is stronger). Anyone based in Boston (Delta is stronger).

How ShopBack fits. Start at shopback.com to see current cashback offers alongside your Europe hotel comparison for an American Flagship Suite trip. Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking London, Madrid, or Barcelona. Applying for the Citi AAdvantage co-branded credit card through a cashback route can add a one-time sign-up rebate on top of the issuer's own AAdvantage mile bonus.

How to pick by hub, not by seat

The most reliable way to choose among the three products in 2026 is to work backward from your US departure hub.

Newark (EWR). United nonstop. The Polaris Lounge at EWR is one of the two best in the network, and the refreshed 787-9 is progressively taking over transatlantic rotations. No serious Delta or American competitor here for European business class nonstop.

JFK. All three carriers fly Europe nonstop from JFK. Delta One Suites plus the Delta One Lounge is the strongest end-to-end product for JFK-London and JFK-Paris. American Flagship Suite is a strong second, especially for JFK-London (British Airways JV connectivity). United does not fly JFK to Europe.

Boston (BOS). Delta One nonstop to Europe (LHR, CDG, AMS). No United, no American to Europe from BOS on a Flagship Suite aircraft. Delta wins by default and by lounge.

Washington Dulles (IAD). United nonstop. The Polaris Lounge at IAD is smaller than the flagship EWR and ORD lounges but still a strong departure product. No Delta One Suite competitor from IAD.

Chicago (ORD). All three carriers fly Europe nonstop. United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 plus the ORD Polaris Lounge (widely considered the best of the six) is the strongest end-to-end product. American Flagship Suite is a growing option as more Project Olympus aircraft rotate through DFW to ORD.

Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). American nonstop. Project Olympus 777-300ERs are being prioritised into DFW routes, and the DFW Flagship Lounge is exceptional per departure. American wins decisively for DFW-based flyers.

Miami (MIA). American nonstop. The MIA Flagship Lounge is another exceptional per-departure lounge. American also has strong Latin America connectivity for combined Europe plus Latin America trips.

LAX. All three carriers fly Europe nonstop. Delta One Suites plus the Delta One Lounge at LAX is a very strong end-to-end product. United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 is competitive on hard product, and the LAX Polaris Lounge is solid. American Flagship Lounge at LAX is a third strong option; the choice tightens on the specific European destination.

San Francisco (SFO). United nonstop. The SFO Polaris Lounge and the refreshed 787-9 (which debuted the new Polaris product on this route) makes United the default for SFO-based flyers to Europe.

Atlanta (ATL). Delta nonstop. ATL is a Delta stronghold with the joint venture routing into Paris and Amsterdam and onward across Europe.

Philadelphia (PHL). American nonstop. PHL is one of American's transatlantic strongholds via Lufthansa Group and BA/Iberia connections, though not all PHL aircraft will be retrofitted 777-300ERs; verify aircraft type.

Points, cash, and how the fare economics work

Whether to pay cash or redeem points depends on the specific route and season more than on the airline.

Cash pricing patterns. Peak-season transatlantic business class round trips (June to August, plus Christmas week) typically run $5,000 to $10,000 on all three US carriers, sometimes higher on premium markets like JFK to LHR. Shoulder-season fares (April, May, September, October) often dip to $2,800 to $4,500 round trip on the same markets, especially when purchased three to six months in advance. Winter fares (January to March, excluding February holiday week) can occasionally dip below $2,500 on secondary markets.

Points redemption patterns. United MileagePlus, Delta SkyMiles, and American AAdvantage all use dynamic pricing on their transatlantic business class awards, so the mileage cost varies materially by date and demand. A round-trip business class redemption typically ranges from about 130,000 to 250,000 miles on each carrier, sometimes higher during peak weeks. Star Alliance partner awards (through United) and oneworld partner awards (through American) often offer better fixed-mile pricing than the US carrier's own dynamic awards, if partner availability opens.

Cash vs points decision rule. If the cash fare is under about $3,500 round trip and you are earning a strong points multiplier on the ticket (co-branded card, elite status bonus), cash is usually the stronger overall value. If the cash fare climbs above $5,000, a points award redemption almost always beats cash on a cents-per-mile basis, even at 1.5 to 2 cents per mile.

How ShopBack fits into the booking. Book flights via ShopBack partners (major online travel agencies list flight-inclusive packages that qualify for cashback on eligible bookings). Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking so the hotel and airport transfer components earn cashback on top of the flight. For a first-time application to Chase United, Amex Delta, or Citi AAdvantage, activate cashback via ShopBack before checkout at eligible partners and apply through the cashback link so the sign-up rebate stacks with the issuer's own bonus miles offer. Verify current cashback rates on shopback.com before booking, since rates change through the year.

When each airline is not the right pick

Sometimes the answer is none of the above.

When to skip United. If your hub is JFK, Boston, DFW, or Miami, United does not fly nonstop to Europe from those cities. If you value a truly first-class ground product before departure, Delta One Lounge is still the single strongest lounge among the three.

When to skip Delta. If your hub is Newark, Washington Dulles, Houston, or SFO, Delta does not fly nonstop to Europe from those cities. If you specifically want the newest business class seat available in 2026, the current A350-900 Delta One Suite is a strong seat but was designed several years ago; United Polaris Studio and American Flagship Suite are the newer products.

When to skip American. If your hub is Boston, Newark, or Washington Dulles, American does not fly nonstop to Europe from those cities on a Project Olympus 777-300ER (some smaller-widebody service exists but not with the Flagship Suite). If the specific 777-300ER on your flight has not yet been retrofitted, the older business class is a step behind the current Delta and United products; verify aircraft type at booking.

When to consider a European carrier instead. For nonstop service into secondary European cities without connecting, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Swiss, Air France, and KLM often fly routes the US carriers do not. The transatlantic joint ventures mean these fares are often bookable on a US-carrier ticket, so this is less a "which airline" question than a "which metal" question when the itinerary crosses a JV.

Frequently asked questions

Which US airline has the best business class to Europe in 2026?

For US to Europe in 2026, United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 leads on hard product because the new suites and Polaris Studio front rows include sliding doors and a 27-inch 4K OLED screen, and United runs six Polaris Lounges across US hubs. Delta One Suites on the A350-900 wins for JFK, Boston, and LAX flyers thanks to the Delta One Lounge and the Air France-KLM joint venture routing into Paris and Amsterdam. American Flagship Suite on the Project Olympus 777-300ER wins for DFW, Miami, and JFK flyers who value the Flagship Lounge network. Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner alongside the flight.

What is the difference between United Polaris and the Polaris Studio?

Polaris Studio is the ultra-premium suite in the first two rows of United's refreshed 787-9 Polaris cabin. Studio suites are about 25 percent larger than the standard new Polaris and include a 27-inch 4K OLED IFE screen (SimpleFlying). Both types are lie-flat 1-2-1 with direct aisle access and sliding privacy doors. Studio sells at a higher fare or costs more MileagePlus miles.

When did United's new Polaris cabin start flying transatlantic?

United's refreshed 787-9 with the new Polaris suites (including Polaris Studio) began scheduled service on San Francisco to London Heathrow on April 30, 2026. United has prioritised the refreshed 787-9 fleet on premium-heavy transatlantic routes given the concentration of business demand and the competitive pressure from British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and the SkyTeam and oneworld joint ventures.

Where does Delta One Suites fly to Europe today?

Delta One Suites on the A350-900 operate on many core transatlantic markets, including JFK to London Heathrow, JFK to Paris CDG, JFK to Amsterdam, Atlanta to Amsterdam, Atlanta to Paris, and Boston to London. Because Delta prices in coordination with Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic through the transatlantic joint venture, connecting itineraries via CDG and AMS often surface at similar prices to a nonstop.

How is the American Flagship Suite different from the old American business class?

Under Project Olympus, American's retrofitted 777-300ER carries 70 Flagship Suites with sliding privacy doors, up from 52 older business seats without doors (OneMileAtATime). The layout also removes the old First Class cabin entirely; American now positions the front-row Flagship Suite Preferred as its top tier. The retrofit started rolling out in August 2026; verify aircraft assignment at booking.

Compare US airport lounges for business class to Europe: which is best?

United operates the most Polaris Lounges: six in the US (Newark, Chicago O'Hare, Houston Intercontinental, LAX, San Francisco, Washington Dulles) plus Hong Kong. Delta One Lounges are open at JFK, LAX, and Boston and are widely rated the strongest single premium lounge for a transatlantic departure. American Flagship Lounges are open at JFK, LAX, DFW, Chicago O'Hare, and Miami.

Are lie-flat beds standard across all three airlines to Europe?

Yes, all three US carriers now fly lie-flat business class beds on their transatlantic Europe routes, with 1-2-1 layouts and direct aisle access on the widebody aircraft used. What varies is whether the seat has a sliding privacy door, the width and length of the bed, and the size of the IFE screen. United's refreshed 787-9, Delta A350-900, and American's retrofitted 777-300ER all include doors on the new products.

Can I earn cashback on a business class ticket to Europe?

For the hotel side of the trip, book flights via ShopBack partners (major online travel agencies list flight-inclusive packages that qualify for cashback on eligible bookings) and compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking. Applying for a co-branded airline card (Chase United, Amex Delta, Citi AAdvantage) through a cashback route can also add a one-time sign-up rebate on top of the issuer's own bonus miles. Verify current cashback rates on shopback.com before booking.

Should I book with points or cash for US to Europe business class?

Points typically win when award availability opens on nonstop peak-season dates that would price at $5,000 or more round trip in cash. Cash typically wins during shoulder seasons or on connecting itineraries via partner hubs (CDG, AMS, LHR) where paid business fares dip and mileage awards still require standard partner pricing. As a rule, if cash is under about $3,500 round trip for a peak week, cash is competitive; over that, a paid points redemption is usually the stronger value.

Explain how ShopBack fits into a US to Europe business class trip.

ShopBack helps on the parts of the trip beyond the seat: compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking, activate cashback via ShopBack before checkout at eligible travel partners for the hotel and airport transfer legs, and apply for a co-branded airline card through a cashback route so the sign-up bonus and any tracked cashback stack on the same application. Cashback via ShopBack posts to your ShopBack account separately from any MileagePlus, SkyMiles, or AAdvantage miles earned on the ticket.

Which US carrier has the most reliable business-class product on transatlantic routes in Q4 2026?

For Q4 2026 transatlantic reliability, Delta One on the A350-900 leads on operational consistency because Delta runs the tightest scheduled-completion factor of the three US majors, and the Delta One Suite has been in service since 2017 with minimal retrofit disruption. United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 is the newer product but the fleet rollout is still mid-year, so aircraft substitutions to older Polaris are more common. American's Project Olympus 777-300ER retrofit only started August 2026, so the odds of drawing a pre-retrofit 777 stay elevated through Q4. Book the hotel and airport transfer through ShopBack Travel Planner so cashback tracks within 48 hours on the ground portion of the trip regardless of which US carrier flies the segment.

How much cashback do you get on Europe hotels via ShopBack?

Cashback rates on hotel bookings via ShopBack are published on each merchant's ShopBack page (Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, Marriott, Hilton, Trip.com) and update through the year, historically running in the 3 to 8 percent range on OTA hotel partners. Rates apply on eligible hotel booking value, exclude taxes and government fees in most cases, and post separately from any MileagePlus, SkyMiles, or AAdvantage miles earned on the paired flight. Check the live rate on shopback.com before you click through so the click is tracked correctly.

Does ShopBack cashback stack with credit card rewards on a Europe trip?

Yes. ShopBack cashback is card-agnostic, so a US business class flyer paying with a Chase Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum, or Citi AAdvantage Executive earns the card's travel multiplier on the paid hotel and transfer bookings at the same time ShopBack cashback tracks. Airline loyalty miles on the flight itself also earn on top, so a cash-paid Europe trip routed through ShopBack partners for the hotel side delivers a triple-earn: cashback, card points, and airline miles.

Is Polaris Studio better than Emirates or Qatar Qsuite for US to Europe?

For nonstop US to Europe, Polaris Studio is competitive with the best Middle Eastern and European business products on hard product, especially on the 27-inch 4K OLED IFE screen, though the Emirates A380 upper-deck bar and Qatar Qsuite center-pair double-bed features remain distinct. Emirates and Qatar do not fly nonstop US to European city pairs, so on a nonstop routing they are not the direct comparison. If routing via DXB or DOH is acceptable, Qatar Qsuite on the A350-1000 remains the widely-cited leader; on pure nonstop US to Europe, Polaris Studio is the strongest US-carrier product.

When is the best time to book US to Europe business class?

For cash fares, book 3 to 6 months out for shoulder seasons (April, May, September, October) when round-trip business class routinely dips to $2,800 to $4,500 on core markets. For summer peak (June to August) and Christmas week, book 6 to 10 months out to lock the lower end of the $5,000 to $10,000 range. For award redemptions, check 11 months out at schedule open for Star Alliance and oneworld partner Saver space. Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner before booking to check the paired hotel cost.

How many days does ShopBack hotel cashback take to process on a Europe trip?

Hotel booking cashback on ShopBack typically tracks within 48 hours of the click and confirms after the hotel stay is complete plus the merchant's own attribution window, which for most OTA partners lands in the 60 to 90 day range from booking date. Confirmed cashback appears in your ShopBack account and becomes withdrawable per the country payout thresholds published on shopback.com. Cashback timing is independent of United, Delta, or American mile posting, which follows the airline's own base earn schedule.

Does ShopBack cashback apply on airline mobile app or united.com bookings?

No, ShopBack cashback requires a click through from the ShopBack site to an eligible merchant partner. Direct bookings on united.com, delta.com, aa.com, or the respective mobile apps do not currently earn ShopBack cashback since the US legacy carriers are not direct flight partners on ShopBack. To earn cashback on the trip, route hotel and OTA-based flight-inclusive package bookings through ShopBack partners like Booking.com, Expedia, or Trip.com in a browser session that starts at shopback.com.

How much can I save on a Europe business class trip with ShopBack plus miles?

A US business class flyer booking a $5,000 round-trip Europe fare with paired hotel spend of $1,500 over 5 nights can layer ShopBack cashback historically in the 3 to 8 percent range on the hotel side, recovering roughly $45 to $120 on the paid hotel portion. If the flight is redeemed on 150,000 airline miles instead of cash, the miles savings pair with the ShopBack cashback on the hotel and transfer to compress out-of-pocket cost meaningfully. The combined miles-plus-cashback stack is the highest-leverage US premium-cabin travel routine in 2026.

Key takeaways

• All three US carriers (United, Delta, American) now fly lie-flat business class suites with sliding doors on core US-to-Europe routes in 2026; the seat itself is close enough that hub, lounge, and joint venture routing are the tiebreakers.
• United Polaris on the refreshed 787-9 leads on hard product, with the Polaris Studio front-row tier adding a 27-inch 4K OLED screen and about 25 percent more space than the standard new Polaris seat.
• The new United Polaris product debuted transatlantic on SFO to London Heathrow on April 30, 2026, and continues to expand across the refreshed 787-9 fleet through 2026 and 2027.
• Delta One Suites on the A350-900 wins on the on-ground experience for JFK, Boston, and LAX flyers thanks to the Delta One Lounge network and the Air France-KLM joint venture routing into deep European coverage.
• The next-generation Delta One Suite on the A350-1000 (Thompson VantageNOVA seat, 83-inch bed) slips into 2027, so 2026 travellers should plan around the current A350-900 seat.
• American Flagship Suite on the Project Olympus 777-300ER wins for DFW, Miami, JFK, and Philadelphia flyers, with 70 suites per aircraft and no First Class remaining; Flagship Suite Preferred is the front-row upgrade tier.
• Not every 777-300ER has been retrofitted yet; verify aircraft assignment at booking and again 24 to 48 hours before departure, because a swap changes the on-board product.
• United has the largest lounge network (six Polaris Lounges); Delta has the strongest single lounge product (Delta One Lounge at JFK, LAX, BOS); American Flagship Lounges dominate at DFW and MIA.
• Cash typically wins under $3,500 round trip; points redemptions usually win over $5,000 round trip on peak dates. Star Alliance and oneworld partner awards can beat US-carrier dynamic pricing when availability opens.
• Compare hotels via ShopBack Travel Planner and book flight-inclusive packages via ShopBack partners so the ground side of the trip earns cashback alongside the airline miles.
