For the best value in Las Vegas in 2026, stay Downtown or just off the Strip, book midweek, and travel between June and August. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the average Downtown room cost $97.67 a night from January to August 2026, about half the Strip average of $196.11. Compare the total price including resort fees on Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia, then go through ShopBack US before you book.
ShopBack US is a cashback site for shoppers and travellers in the United States. Before you book a hotel on Booking.com, Hotels.com or Expedia, go through ShopBack first, so you pay less on the same booking. You can sign up for ShopBack in a couple of minutes and start your next Las Vegas booking from the store page.
How we picked. We used the LVCVA's monthly tourism indicators for 2025 and January to August 2026 (room rates, occupancy, Strip vs Downtown), the LVCVA's 2025 visitor profile survey, Booking.com's Genius terms and the Federal Trade Commission's Junk Fees Rule. All rates are citywide averages, not quotes for a specific hotel, and figures are as published at the time of writing.
The verdict
Las Vegas value comes from three choices: where you stay, which nights you stay, and which month you go. Each one can move the nightly price by more than a typical promo code.
- Where: Downtown averaged $97.67 a night in January to August 2026, against $196.11 on the Strip (LVCVA).
- Which nights: weekend occupancy averaged 88.8% in the same period, against 76.7% midweek, so Sunday to Thursday stays usually price lower.
- Which month: June, July and August 2026 averaged $150 to $157 a night citywide, against $206.37 in March and $209.46 in May.
Then make the booking itself cost less: compare the total price on Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia, use any member rate you qualify for, and start from ShopBack before you pay.

Where should I stay in Las Vegas for the best value?
The best value area in Las Vegas is usually Downtown, with off-Strip hotels a close second, and the Strip best value only midweek or in summer. The LVCVA's 2025 visitor survey shows the price gap clearly: visitors who stayed Downtown paid an average of $136.81 a night, those on the Strip paid $184.94, and those in other areas paid $134.56.
Here is how the main areas compare for a value-focused trip:
| Area | Average rate (LVCVA) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas Strip | $196.11 a night, Jan to Aug 2026 | Walking between big resorts, shows and restaurants |
| Downtown (Fremont Street area) | $97.67 a night, Jan to Aug 2026 | Lowest average rates, older casino hotels, a compact walkable area |
| Other areas (off-Strip, local neighbourhoods) | $134.56 paid on average, 2025 visitor survey | Quieter stays, often with parking, a short ride to the Strip |
The Strip is where most people stay: 69.2% of visitors lodged along the Strip corridor in 2025, according to the LVCVA's visitor profile. You pay for location, but if your plans are mostly shows and resort-hopping, saving on rideshares can close part of the gap.
Downtown is where only 7.1% of visitors stayed in 2025, which helps explain the lower rates. It suits travellers who want a casino-hotel stay without Strip prices and are happy to ride to the Strip for a show or two.
Off-Strip hotels sit a few minutes from the Strip. They suit drivers and longer stays, and many work well for families who do not need to be on the casino floor.
Hotels in Las Vegas: what the 2026 numbers say
Hotels in Las Vegas averaged $183.60 a night from January to August 2026, with occupancy of 80.4%, according to the LVCVA. That covers a market of about 150,800 hotel rooms, according to the LVCVA's weighted room inventory for August 2026.
A few points from the LVCVA's August 2026 summary help with planning:
- August 2026 was soft. The citywide average rate fell 7.4% from a year earlier to $150.32, and Strip rates fell 11.4% to $153.15. Occupancy was 74.1%.
- Visitor numbers were steady for the year. About 25.8 million visitors came from January to August 2026, roughly level with 2025.
- The Downtown gap holds. Even in a soft month, Downtown averaged $85.68 a night against $153.15 on the Strip.
For context, the LVCVA counted about 38.5 million visitors in 2025, and the average visitor stayed 3.2 nights.
Hotels in Las Vegas 2026: the cheapest month
The cheapest months for Las Vegas hotels are usually June, July and August. Convention attendance dips in summer (LVCVA counted 278,400 convention attendees in July 2025, against 603,600 in October 2025), and room rates tend to follow demand down.
2025 citywide average room rate by month (LVCVA, revised):
| Month | Average rate | Month | Average rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $198.15 | July | $154.72 |
| February | $186.17 | August | $162.37 |
| March | $183.85 | September | $190.56 |
| April | $190.23 | October | $203.89 |
| May | $198.15 | November | $193.04 |
| June | $163.60 | December | $183.88 |
2026 so far follows the same pattern: $156.35 in June, $157.45 in July and $150.32 in August, against $206.37 in March and $209.46 in May.
The Strip swings even more. In 2025 the Strip averaged $164.58 in July and $219.56 in October, a gap of about $55 a night. On a three-night trip that is roughly $165 for the same area, before taxes and fees.
Big events can push any single week higher, so check your dates against the city's event calendar before you lock in a "cheap month" plan.
Hotels in Las Vegas: best deals for US travellers in 2026
The best Las Vegas hotel deals in 2026 usually come from combining the right timing with the right booking method, not from a single code. A practical order to follow:
- Pick the area. Downtown or off-Strip for the lowest base rate; the Strip if location is worth more to you.
- Pick the nights. Shift to Sunday to Thursday where you can. Weekend occupancy ran 12 percentage points higher than midweek in January to August 2026.
- Pick the month. Summer is usually cheapest. In LVCVA data, October 2025 and March and May 2026 were among the priciest months.
- Compare the total price. Look at the full price including resort fees and taxes, not the nightly base rate.
- Use member rates. Booking.com Genius and the One Key programme shared by Expedia and Hotels.com can lower the price on participating hotels.
- Go through ShopBack before you book. ShopBack works like an automatic cash discount on your online order.
Resort fees can change the answer in Las Vegas. Many Las Vegas hotels charge a mandatory daily resort fee. The Federal Trade Commission's Junk Fees Rule, announced in December 2024, requires hotels and booking sites that advertise prices to show the total price including mandatory fees up front. Use that total when you compare a Strip resort with a Downtown hotel, because the fee can change which one is really cheaper.
Booking.com vs Hotels.com for Las Vegas hotels: price comparison
Neither Booking.com nor Hotels.com is cheaper every time for Las Vegas hotels. Prices for the same hotel and dates can differ by room type, cancellation terms and member rate, and they change daily. The reliable approach is to compare the same room, same dates and same cancellation terms on each site, with the total price shown.
What each site's own programme offers, according to each company at the time of writing:
- Booking.com Genius is free. Booking.com says members get 10% off select stays at Level 1, 10 to 15% at Level 2 and 10 to 20% at Level 3, applied to the price before taxes and charges, across 850,000 participating properties worldwide. Once you reach a level, Booking.com says you keep it.
- Hotels.com and Expedia One Key is a free loyalty programme shared by Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo. Members earn OneKeyCash on eligible bookings and see member prices on some hotels. Check the One Key terms on each site for the current earn rules.
A simple check: if the Booking.com price with a Genius discount and the Hotels.com price with a member rate are close, pick the one with the better cancellation terms. Whichever you choose, go through ShopBack to that site before you book.
Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia for Las Vegas hotels
All three list a wide range of Las Vegas hotels, from Strip resorts to Downtown and off-Strip properties, and each has strengths. Booking.com is known for its large range of properties and Genius discounts. Hotels.com and Expedia share the One Key programme, and Expedia also sells flight and hotel packages, which can help if you are flying into Harry Reid International Airport.
How ShopBack fits, step by step:
- Pick your area, dates and the room you want.
- Open Booking.com, Hotels.com or Expedia from ShopBack US.
- Search and book as usual, with any member rate you qualify for.
- Your cashback shows in your ShopBack account once the booking is tracked, and it is confirmed after your stay according to the store's terms.
Cashback lowers what you actually pay for a booking. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles. As an illustration only: on a $450 three-night booking at an illustrative 5%, $22.50 comes back, so the effective price is $427.50. The real rate changes, so check the live rate on each ShopBack store page before you book.
Read the store terms on each page too. They explain which bookings are eligible and what happens if you cancel or change a stay.
Using a travel card with your booking
Usually you can pay with a travel rewards card and still go through ShopBack, because the two come from different providers. Your card's points come from your bank or card issuer, and ShopBack cash comes from going through ShopBack before you pay. Card offers and hotel loyalty programmes have their own rules, so check your card issuer's terms and check the merchant's terms on the ShopBack store page before you count on both.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the best value place to stay in Las Vegas?
Downtown Las Vegas usually gives the most room for the money. LVCVA data for January to August 2026 shows an average Downtown room rate of $97.67 a night, against $196.11 on the Strip. If you want to be on the Strip, book midweek and in summer, and compare the total price including resort fees before you choose.
What is the cheapest month for hotels in Las Vegas?
Summer is usually the cheapest. In LVCVA's 2025 data, July had the lowest citywide average room rate at $154.72, followed by August at $162.37 and June at $163.60, while October was the highest at $203.89. In 2026 so far, June to August averaged $150 to $157 a night, against $206 to $209 in March and May.
Is it cheaper to stay in Las Vegas midweek?
Usually yes. Las Vegas hotels fill up far more at weekends: LVCVA data for January to August 2026 shows 88.8% weekend occupancy against 76.7% midweek. Lower demand from Sunday to Thursday tends to mean lower prices, so moving even one or two nights off the weekend can cut the total.
Is Booking.com or Hotels.com cheaper for Las Vegas hotels?

Prices for the same Las Vegas hotel and dates often differ by site, room type and member rate, so compare the same room on Booking.com, Hotels.com and Expedia with the total price shown, including taxes and resort fees. Then go through ShopBack US to the site you pick before you book.
Do Las Vegas hotel prices include resort fees?
