Yes. According to T-Mobile at the time of writing, customers aged 55 and over can choose from three discounted 55+ plans: Essentials Choice 55 2.0, Experience More w/ 55+ Savings 2.0 and Experience Beyond w/ 55+ Savings 2.0. T-Mobile's headline 55+ offer is two unlimited lines on Essentials Choice 55 2.0 for $30 per line per month, which it describes as its best price with two lines for 55+. Only the primary account holder needs to be 55 or older and show proof of age, so a younger spouse or partner can share the account.

T-Mobile's Broadband Facts label for Essentials Choice 55+ 2.0 lists $50 for one line and $70 for two lines before the AutoPay discount, and says the price is not an introductory rate and needs no yearly contract. The AutoPay discount usually needs a debit card or bank account. Taxes, the per-line Regulatory Programs and Telco Recovery Fee, and a one-time device connection charge are listed separately on the label, so the bill you see will usually be a little higher than the plan price.

Who qualifies and how to sign up

T-Mobile says new and existing customers aged 55 or older are eligible, and that proof of age is required. You can sign up in a T-Mobile store with a government-issued ID such as a driver's license or passport, by calling 1-800-T-MOBILE, or on T-Mobile.com. For existing customers who call in, T-Mobile says it checks the date of birth it already has on record, and may ask for proof if it doesn't have one.

A few rules are worth knowing before you switch:

• Two voice lines is the limit. T-Mobile says its 55+ plans were made for people who need just two lines. For three or more, it points you to the standard Essentials 2.0, Experience More 2.0 or Experience Beyond 2.0 plans, and notes that three or more lines may cost less on the standard version thanks to its 3rd Line Free promotion.
• You can't mix plan families. Essentials 2.0 lines and Experience lines can't sit on the same account.
• Tablets and watches are allowed. Data-only lines for tablets, wearables and hotspots can be added at regular prices, subject to credit approval.
• Some promotions still apply. T-Mobile says the 55+ plans can be combined with some device offers and Family Freedom, and suggests checking with its team if you already have device or service credits on another plan.

Is the T-Mobile 55+ plan the cheapest senior option?

For a couple, usually yes within T-Mobile's own lineup: two lines on Essentials Choice 55 2.0 come in below two lines on the standard Essentials 2.0 plan, which T-Mobile lists at $100 before AutoPay. For one person, the gap is small. Essentials Choice 55+ 2.0 lists $50 for one line, against $55 for Essentials Saver 2.0, so pick on features rather than the $5. If you are comfortable managing an app-based prepaid line and use modest data, the Mint Mobile and Visible prices covered earlier in this article are often lower still (see Persona 10 above for Consumer Cellular and the other senior picks).

Does T-Mobile 5G Home Internet have a senior or student discount?

T-Mobile's home internet menu lists a 55+ Phone & Internet Bundle at the time of writing. On its 5G Home Internet plans page, the Rely, Amplified and All-In plans show $50, $60 and $70 a month with AutoPay, or $35, $45 and $55 a month with a voice line. In practice, the biggest home internet saving for a senior is pairing it with a T-Mobile voice line, including a 55+ line where T-Mobile's terms allow it.

T-Mobile's 5G Home Internet plans page does not list a student-only price at the time of writing. T-Mobile's student pricing shows up on its phone plans instead, as Essentials Saver Student 2.0 and Experience Beyond Student 2.0.
