Two patterns stand out. Summer (June to August) is the clear low point in both years. And the cheaper spring and winter months move around: March was among the cheaper months in 2025 but one of the dearest in 2026. That is why checking your own dates still matters.
Cheapest time to go to Vegas: the year month by month
Vegas prices follow demand, so the cheap months are the ones with the fewest visitors and conventions, and in the LVCVA data that is midsummer and, to a lesser degree, December.
- June to August: cheapest. The three lowest average room rates of 2025 were July, August and June. Convention attendance was also lowest in July 2025, at 278,400, according to the LVCVA. It is the hottest part of the year, which is part of why rooms are cheaper.
- December: often good value. December 2025 averaged $183.88 a night, below the 2025 full-year average of $184.43, and convention attendance was 306,000. The weeks around Christmas and New Year's Eve are a different story, so price those nights separately.
- February and March: mixed. February 2025 averaged $186.17 and March $183.85, but March 2026 jumped to $206.37. Check events for your dates.
- January, May, September to November: usually pricier. October 2025 was the most expensive month at $203.89, January and May were $198.15, and these months often coincide with large conventions and events.
Cheapest time to go to Vegas in 2026: what the latest numbers show
In 2026 up to July, June ($156.35) and July ($157.45) are the cheapest months for Las Vegas hotels, while May ($209.46) and March ($206.37) are the most expensive, according to the LVCVA. The 2026 average from January to July was $188.04, a little above the 2025 full-year average of $184.43.
If you are planning for late 2026 or early 2027, the 2025 pattern is the best guide for the months not yet published: September, October and November were all above $190 in 2025, and December was lower at $183.88.
Cheapest days of the week to stay in Las Vegas
Weeknights are usually cheaper than weekends in Las Vegas, because more rooms sit empty from Sunday to Thursday. In 2025, Las Vegas hotels were 76.6% full on midweek nights against 88.8% on weekend nights, according to the LVCVA. In 2026 up to July, the gap was similar: 77.7% midweek against 89.3% at weekends.
Hotels price to fill rooms, so a Sunday to Thursday stay often costs less than a Friday to Sunday stay at the same hotel. Search both before you pick dates. Our guide to the cheapest day of the week to book hotel deals covers when to book, as opposed to when to stay.
Big events that make Vegas more expensive
Large conventions, sports weekends and holidays fill hotels across the city and push room rates up, so the cheapest Vegas trip avoids them. Las Vegas drew close to 6 million convention attendees in 2025 (5,988,200, according to the LVCVA), and January 2025 alone had 628,800.
The biggest single January event is CES. CES 2027 runs January 6 to 9, 2027, in Las Vegas, according to the Consumer Technology Association. If you are not going to the show, choose dates outside that week.
Before you book, check the convention and event calendar for your dates on the official Las Vegas visitor sites, and compare a week either side. Moving a trip by a few days can matter as much as moving it by a month.
Strip or Downtown: where the cheaper rooms are
Downtown Las Vegas has been about half the price of the Strip on average: $98.75 a night in 2025, against $197.45 on the Strip, according to the LVCVA. In July 2026, the average was $87.41 Downtown and $167.40 on the Strip.
The Strip has the big resorts, shows and most of the nightlife, and Downtown has Fremont Street and a smaller, older set of hotels. Which is better value depends on what you want to do. For hotel picks by area, see our guide to where to stay in Las Vegas for the best value.
Cheapest time to go to Vegas: best deals for US travelers in 2026
The best Vegas deals for US travelers usually come from a few timing decisions, not from one code: go in summer or a quiet week, stay midweek, avoid big conventions, compare the total price on two or three sites, and book through ShopBack. In order:
- Pick the month. June to August is usually cheapest; December outside the holidays can be good value.
- Pick the nights. Price Sunday to Thursday against a weekend.
- Check the event calendar. Avoid CES week and other big shows unless you are attending.
- Choose the area. Compare a Strip hotel with a Downtown or off-Strip option.
- Compare by total price. Look at the final price with taxes and any resort fee on Expedia, Priceline and the hotel's own site.
- Book through ShopBack. Open the booking site's page on ShopBack, tap through, and book.

Resorts World Las Vegas vs Priceline: comparing the same Vegas stay
There is no fixed answer to whether Resorts World Las Vegas is cheaper booked direct or on Priceline: compare the same room, the same nights and the same rate rules on both, plus Expedia, by the final total. Things to line up when you compare:
- Same room type and bed setup. Resorts World has three hotels in one tower, so check which one each listing is for.
- Same cancellation rules. A non-refundable rate is often lower than a flexible one.
- Total, not nightly. Include taxes and any resort fee in the total.
- Member pricing. A hotel's own member rate or a booking site's member price may need you to sign in to see it.
Resorts World Las Vegas, Priceline and Expedia are all stores on ShopBack US at the time of writing. Whichever comes out lowest for your dates, go through ShopBack before you book it.
Resorts World Las Vegas, Priceline and Expedia for a cheap Vegas trip
Resorts World Las Vegas opened on June 24, 2021, and its 59-story tower holds 3,506 rooms across three Hilton hotels, according to Wikipedia: Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World (1,678 rooms), Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts World (1,496 rooms) and Crockfords Las Vegas (332 rooms). That spread of room types is why its prices can vary widely on the same night.
- Resorts World Las Vegas: book direct with the resort when you want a room there and its own rate rules.
- Priceline: a US booking site with hotels across Las Vegas, useful for comparing many Strip and off-Strip hotels on the same dates.
- Expedia: a US booking site for hotels, flights and packages, useful when you want to price flight plus hotel together.
Other booking sites on ShopBack US with Las Vegas hotels include Booking.com, Hotels.com and Trip.com.
Book your Vegas trip through ShopBack
Booking through ShopBack lowers the cost of the trip, and you still book on the site you chose. Timing gets you a cheaper room rate; going through ShopBack is the step that changes what the trip costs you after you pay. Before you check out, go through ShopBack to get a post-purchase discount on the order.
Cashback lowers what you actually pay for an order. It comes back as cash, so it works like a discount on the price, not like points or miles.
How to do it:
- Pick your dates and compare the total on two or three sites.
- Open the ShopBack US app, website or browser extension and go to the site's page, such as Expedia, Priceline or Resorts World Las Vegas.
- Tap through and book.
- Our guide to earning on travel bookings explains each stage.
An illustrative example. The effective price is what you pay minus what ShopBack returns. Say you book three midweek July nights at $160 a night, so $480 in total. The figures are made up to show the maths; the live rate is on each site's ShopBack page, and on hotel bookings it is often calculated on the room rate before taxes and fees.
Using a travel credit card and ShopBack on the same booking
You may be able to earn your card's travel rewards and still book through ShopBack on the same Vegas stay, because the card's rewards come from the card issuer under its own rules.
Mistakes that make a cheap Vegas trip expensive
- Picking a cheap month but a busy week. A big convention can wipe out the summer saving.
- Comparing nightly rates instead of totals. Taxes and resort fees can change which option is cheapest.
- Booking a Friday and Saturday by default. A Sunday to Thursday stay is often cheaper.
- Forgetting the summer heat. Plan outdoor trips early in the day.
- Paying first and remembering ShopBack later. A booking usually cannot be added afterwards, so start from ShopBack before you book.
